The international Christian organization Open Doors claims that persecution against Christians is increasing. In its latest report, it states that more than 380 million Christians are currently suffering from persecution.
In fact, in the last year, 4,476 Christians were killed because of their faith.
Open Doors published a ranking of the most dangerous countries in the world. In first place is North Korea, with 98 points out of 100, followed by Somalia, in the Horn of Africa. In fact, Africa is one of the continents where being a Christian is most dangerous: 1 in 5 Christians suffer persecution. In Asia, 2 in 5 Christians suffer persecution.
Despite the dramatic figures, there are positive signs in the Persian Gulf. According to the report, the oil powers in the region have given some signs of religious tolerance. Examples include allowing Christmas decorations to be placed in public areas or by reforming school textbooks to remove content that is too negative about Christians.
