Rome is filled with journalists who will celebrate the Jubilee on the occasion of their patron saint. Pope Francis has a very close relationship with the press. He always gives journalists words of thanks on his trips.
POPE FRANCIS
Thank you for being with me, all together. Thank you for your work, which is so good; it helps a great deal, because it enables the images and also your thoughts, your reflections on the trip, to reach the people, who are interested on the journey. Thank you very much.
The Pope also has a very clear idea of what the work of journalists should be like.
POPE FRANCIS
I therefore urge you to work according to truth and justice, so that communication is truly a tool to build, not to destroy. To give voice to those who have no voice, not to be the megaphone for those who shout the loudest.
He has publicly shown his affection for this profession, thanking them for the work and service that is carried out every day:
POPE FRANCIS
It is the heart that moves us towards open and receptive communication. I greet the journalists and communication professionals present here. I thank them for their work and I hope that it will always be at the service of the truth and the common good. A round of applause for all the journalists!
The Jubilee of Communication is the first group on the Jubilee agenda. Thousands of communicators are expected to come to Rome.
