2025 in the Vatican will be a year marked by the Jubilee. Just as Pope Francis did in 2016, during the Year of Mercy, in 2025 he plans to intensify his meetings with the faithful. In addition to the public catecheses on Fridays, his schedule Will also include them on Saturdays.
Among the major events of the Jubilee this year is the canonization on April 27 of Blessed Carlo Acutis, the young Italian who passed away in 2006 from leukemia aged 15.
POPE FRANCIS
I want to say that next year on the Day of Children… of Adolescents, I will canonize Blessed Carlo Acutis.
Regarding travels, the Pope has expressed his firm intention to visit Nicea, Turkey. He wants to take part in the ecumenical gathering planned to commemorate the 1700th anniversary of the Council that took place there.
POPE FRANCIS
The dialogue between our Churches does not carry any risk to the integrity of faith; moreover, it is a requirement that stems from faithfulness to the Lord and leads us to all truth.
As for whether he will undertake other trips, there’s much speculation but nothing oficial yet. What’s clear is that these will depend largely on the Pope's health. He’s 88 years old, and although he remains active, his mobility has recently decreased, and his movements now increasingly rely on a wheelchair.
