In August, Pope Francis resumed his public activity after the July break, beginning with the day commemorating the miracle of the snow, August 5, when he went to the Basilica of St. Mary Major for the recitation of Vespers.
At the Vatican, his guests included several presidents, such as the President of Malawi, as well as the Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament. He showed his desire to visit the country again, following his trip in 2015.

I have to go a second time.
He also welcomed Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and the third richest person in the world.
Lastly, he met with the relatives of the victims of the 2020 Beirut explosion.
FRANCISCO
With you, I ask for truth and justice.
With you, I remember all those whose lives were taken by that tremendous explosion.
While praying the Angelus, the Pope spoke out against a new law passed in Ukraine that bans the Russian Orthodox Churches.
POPE FRANCIS
One does not commit evil because one prays. If someone commits evil against his people, he will be guilty for it, but he cannot have committed evil because he prayed. Let those who want to pray be allowed to pray in what they consider their church. Please let no Christian Church be abolished directly or indirectly, the Churches should not be touched!
And in August, the Pope brought attention to the situation in Nicaragua, where Christians are facing violence and persecution.
And from the Vatican, following a long investigation process, the founder of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae organization was expelled. The decision was announced by the Holy See through a statement signed by Pope Francis.
