Pope Francis thanked this group of Vietnamese residents in the United States for the help they provide to the Pontifical Missionary Works.
He told them that their work is a concrete gesture that helps to transmit hope to those most in need. He also told them that, at the same time, this help is a driving force for evangelization.
POPE FRANCIS
I hope that this time will allow all the faithful to experience an authentic and personal encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, whom we must proclaim always, everywhere and to everyone as our hope. Your commitment to supporting the missionary and charitable works of the universal Church is a concrete expression of this proclamation and will contribute to bringing the hope born of the Gospel to many of our brothers and sisters in various parts of the world.
Pope Francis gratefully noted a distinctive characteristic of many Catholics who immigrated from Vietnam to the United States: the strong faith they took with them.
