As the Christmas holidays are fastly approaching, the Pope asked Catholics not to leave the elderly, who sometimes suffer total abandonment and loneliness.

They are a divine gift to be thanked and cared for. Let us not allow them to find themselves alone during the coming Christmas festivities. This I would like to repeat: let them not find themselves alone this festivity.
Pope Francis began a new cycle of catechesis focusing on Christian hope. Over the next few Wednesdays the General Audience will take place in the Paul VI Audience Hall.
There is already a festive atmosphere there. Every week you can see traditional groups singing Christmas carols.
