The Vatican's Promoter of Justice said he is looking for all the documentation in the Holy See that is related to the disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi in 1983.
In these four decades, several hypotheses have come to light about how the 15-year-old Italian girl disappeared without a trace in the center of Rome.

There are at least five clues that cannot all be true. They can all be false, but they cannot all be true, because otherwise they cancel each other out.
The theories range from human trafficking and the mafia, to family problems in the Orlandi family, to financial blackmail linked to the Vatican bank.
Now, the focus is on a dossier that Emanuela's brother has been talking about for years. Pietro Orlandi said that Paolo Gabriele, the former butler of Benedict XVI and someone involved in the Vatileaks case, told him that he saw in the Vatican a dossier entitled 'Emanuela Orlandi Report'.

We found the dossier. Pietro Orlandi spoke a lot about it, and it was also discussed in the Commission. This dossier exists and we have found it. As to what its content is, we must keep it confidential.
Diddi confirmed the existence of the report at the presentation of the book 'The Throne and the Altar'. Apparently, it contains all the information that the Holy See has been collecting since 1983.
The Orlandi family lawyer pointed out that the family has been requesting to see the report since 2017, six years before the Vatican opened the investigation. The question she now asks is who has kept the dossier during these years and why it has taken so long to acknowledge its existence.
