Spanish Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot dies at the age of 72. Since 2019, the same year he was created a cardinal, he was in charge of the Vatican Department for Interreligious Dialogue.
Pope Francis had announced that the Cardinal was at the end of his life during this meeting. He asked for prayers for him because he was very ill.
Before beginning his career in the Curia, he was a missionary in countries such as Egypt and Sudan. For him, dialogue between different religious people was a priority.

One of his greatest achievements was his work to re-establish interfaith dialogue with the Grand Imam of Al-Azar, which culminated in the signing of the joint declaration on Human Fraternity between the Imam and the Pope in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
