Pope Francis addressed a letter to the Church of Rome on the occasion of the Jubilee. In it, he makes a request to parish priests, the religious and clergy: that they give a tangible sign of attention to housing problems.

Specifically, what he suggests to them is that those who own real estate should make it available to people who are homeless or at risk of losing their homes.

This is a gesture with which the Pope wants to curb the housing emergency, especially in view of the Holy Year, for which some 32 million pilgrims are expected to come to the Eternal City.

Added to this is the danger of not being able to afford housing. Rents have skyrocketed in recent years. According to the Statista portal, Rome is the second capital in Europe with the most expensive rents: on average, about 2,000 euros per month.
