Martyrdom and the holiness of those who offer their lives for their neighbor - this was the theme of the congress held by the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints. Its participants met with Pope Francis recently.
FRANCIS
In order to be saints, it is not enough to make a human effort or a personal commitment to sacrifice and renunciation. Above all, it is necessary to allow ourselves to be transformed by the power of God's love, which is greater than we are, and makes us capable of loving beyond what we thought we could do.
The Pope stressed that holiness does not consist only in seeking perfect moral conduct. Holiness is the consequence of a vital attitude that consists in seeking God and allowing oneself to be transformed by His love.
