The World Day of the Poor is celebrated on the third Sunday of November.
As usual, Pope Francis is scheduled to preside at a Mass in St. Peter's Basilica. Many of the participants in the liturgical celebration will be people in need who receive help from various charitable associations in Rome.
POPE FRANCIS
When we think of poverty we must not forget modesty. Poverty is modest. It hides. We must go out and look for it with courage.
And they are not one, two, three…. They are many. The poor are a multitude.
After Mass, the Pope usually has lunch with the participants in the Paul VI Hall. The space where some important events in the life of the Church take place becomes a large dining room.
POPE FRANCIS
Let us pray together to the Lord that he bless us, bless the meals and bless this time of fellowship all together and acompany us in life.
The Argentine pontiff was the one who established this initiative in the Vatican and it is one of the most important events of the month in his agenda.
