On the sidelines of a meeting at the Gregorian University, the Vatican Secretary of State exchanged a few words with journalists.
Asked about Trump's election, Cardinal Parolin expressed his best wishes for him. He was asked if he thinks the president-elect will end the ongoing war conflicts, but the cardinal was skeptical.
In fact, he says that with regard to the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East it remains to be seen what policy the US president-elect will adopt. The Vatican, for the moment, is working to promote humanitarian work, especially in Ukraine, where it is mediating with other countries to repatriate children who are in Russia.
On the Middle East, Vatican diplomacy has already expressed its support for the two-state solution, leaving aside temporarily those issues on which there is no agreement.
