It is typical for Pope Francis to take his work briefcase with him on trips. And after 11 years of traveling around the world, the handle has broken.
As usual he tries to fix what he already has. He does not buy new things. In addition, for repairs, he turns to local craftsmen or workers. Daniel Arellano is one of the craftsmen who works near San Pedro.

I also felt very proud, happy, and honored to be able to fix a briefcase of such an important person.
Pope Francis' briefcase is as good as new and waiting to be seen on his next trip. This would not have been possible without the love of a craftsman with knowledge of what he does.

Fixing the briefcase of Pope Francis for me has been a pride, an honor and also something important. I tried to do a very good job so that he can continue using his briefcase in important trips he makes.
For Daniel's family, it is already a matter of course that the Vatican asks them for jobs. In fact, his father made shoes for Benedict XVI. That is why Daniel takes this legacy with great affection and knowledge of what he has in his hands.
