Pope Francis is returning to the Laurentian Cemetery six years later. He will do so on November 2, All Souls' Day. It is the third largest in Rome with 21 hectares.
In 2018, the Pope was praying in what is known as the "Garden of Angels." This is the place where children are buried; also those who were never born.
Last year he was at the Rome War Cemetery, where the fallen soldiers of World War II are buried. About 300 people were present.
POPE FRANCIS
I thought of the fathers. Of the mothers, to whom that letter arrives: Madam, I have the honor to inform you that you have a hero son. Yes, hero, but he has been taken from me. Many tears in these stolen lives and I could not not think of the wars of today.
It is tradition that the pope goes every second day of November to a different cemetery in the Eternal City. And this Saturday, Pope Francis will again be seen praying for the deceased, just as he did a few years ago for the unborn.
