Find the difference between this image: the Pope reading the homily at the opening Mass of the Synod…
And this one… Take a good look at Pope Francis in the afternoon during the opening of the final phase of the assembly… The pontiff was wearing new glasses for the first time.
Two months ago, the Pope was leaving the Vatican for a surprise visit to his trusted optician. Francis told his optician that he did not want to change his glasses.

The check-up is done just to be safe. Then, like always, he takes out the glasses that he has had forever and he says, these frames are fine for me. I take good care of them. And at that point, you just agree with the Holy Father's decision. So we change the lenses but without touching the frame because he wants nothing to do with buying a new one.
But the Pope seems to have changed his mind. And although the new ones have a more modern touch, they are still as simple as the old ones.
