Pope Francis reappeared to the public during his weekly catechesis. In it, he spoke about the devil.
He said that the devil is not an allusion and there is a reason why today, there is a high demand for magicians and superstition.
POPE FRANCIS
It is deceptive. It makes us believe that it does not exist. And so he dominates everything, he is clever.
And if you are superstitious, you are unconsciously dialoguing with the devil. You don't dialogue with the devil.
The Pope condemned current practices like pornography, where he said the presence of the devil is obvious.
POPE FRANCIS
We all know it. The devil is at work there.
Every phone has access to this brutality, to this language of the devil, pornography on the internet.
At the end the audience, Pope Francis made an appeal for peace in the Middle East, especially after the latest attacks in Lebanon.
POPE FRANCIS
I am pained by the news coming from Lebanon, where in the last few days, heavy bombardments have caused many casualties and destruction. I hope that the international community will make every effort to end this terrible escalation. It is unacceptable.
This was the Pope's last public event before his trip to Belgium and Luxembourg. Although he canceled his meetings on Monday due to slight flu-like conditions, during the catechesis the 87-year-old Pope showed no signs of poor health.
