The Pope's first words at his last public event of the week were dedicated to condemning the violence in Honduras following the recent murder of a pastoral operator and environmental activist.
FRANCISCO
I join in the mourning of the local Church and in the condemnation of all forms of violence. I am close to those who see their basic rights trampled underfoot and to those who commit themselves to the common good in response to the cry of the poor and of the Earth.
And, of course, he also reiterated his calls for peace in the face of rising tension and violence in the Middle East.
FRANCISCO
Unfortunately, the tension on the war fronts is very high. Let the voice of the people, who ask for peace, be heard. Let us not forget the battered Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Myanmar, and other countries that are at war. Let us pray for peace.
The Pope thus culminated an intense week of meetings, despite his recent trip to Asia and Oceania. Throughout the week, he had meetings with ambassadors from various countries of the world.
