Pope Francis' last meeting in East Timor was with young people. He warned them against vices, especially drugs and alcohol, calling them destroyers of dreams.

POPE FRANCIS
A young man has to dream. And how do you dream, Father? Do you drink alcohol? No. If you do that, you will have nightmares. I invite you to dream, to dream big things. A young man who does not dream is retired from life.

The Pope explained there is no freedom without consequences and the key to this is learning how to control oneself.

POPE FRANCIS
A young person has to understand that being free is not about doing what you want. But that they have responsibility.
A man, a woman, a young man, a young woman who doesn't control himself is a slave. He is dependent. He is not free.

But the Pope's reflection was not only full of cautionary advice. He also encouraged the crowd not to lose the joy that characterizes their youth.

POPE FRANCIS
You are a people who know how to smile. Keep it up; don't forget.

The papal visit to East Timor could be characterized as a success as more than 600,000 people participated in Mass. People expressed their appreciation for the trip in different gestures. For example, some knelt down to kiss the Pope's hands, while others laid their handkerchiefs on the ground for him to walk over as a sign of respect. And people crowded near the airport to see Pope Francis bid a final farewell to their country.
