Together with the Grand Imam of Istiqlal, Pope Francis visited the “tunnel of friendship” that connects the country's largest mosque and the cathedral of Jakarta, Indonesia—the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. This structure is meant to be a symbol of religious coexistence between the Catholicism and Islam.
The two leaders stopped in front of the elevator that descends to the tunnel before joining an interreligious meeting—one of the central events of Pope Francis' trip to Indonesia.
