Pope Francis returned from vacation and resumed his General Audiences on August 7. But the following week, the event did not appear on his agenda. The reason: it was a Vatican holiday.
14 days later, the Pope was again surrounded by pilgrims in the Paul VI Audience Hall. As soon as he entered, this was his first reaction…
So many newlyweds!
And this was how he responded after seeing numerous Latin American flags in the crowds…
I see Mexican, Salvadoran, Argentinean, Uruguayan flags…So many Spanish speakers.
At the end of his weekly catechesis, Pope Francis remembered one of his predecessors: St. Pius X, patron of catechists worldwide. He addressed this message to them.
POPE FRANCIS
Today, the feast of St. Pius X, in many parts from the world, we celebrate Catechist Day. We think of our catechists who do so much work and are, in some parts from the world, the first to bring the faith.
This was the second to last General Audience before Pope Francis leaves for his long trip to Asia. It ended with him once again praying for countries at war, such as Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, South Sudan and Burma.
