The Angelus was full of references to Venezuela as Pope Francis reflected on the situation with thousands of pilgrims in St. Peter's Square.
POPE FRANCIS
I express equal concern for Venezuela, which is experiencing a critical situation. I make a heartfelt appeal to all parties to seek the truth, to exercise restraint, to avoid any kind of violence, to settle disputes through dialogue and to have at heart the true good of the people and not partisan interests.
The Pope recalled some of the crises around the world and called for a resounding change in political attitudes.
POPE FRANCIS
Have the courage to resume dialogue so there is an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and on all fronts, hostages are released and people are rescued with humanitarian aid. Attacks, even targeted attacks, and killings can never be a solution. They do not help to walk the path of justice, the path of peace, but they generate even more hatred and revenge. Enough, brothers and sisters!
Pope Francis ended by asking for a round of applause for all parish priests on the feast of St. Jean-Marie Vianney, who was an example of a priest dedicated to his parishioners.
