Once again, Pope Francis worked behind closed doors with his Council of Cardinals, also known as C9. This was the group's third meeting so far this year. The Pope created the C9 at the beginning of his pontificate to help advise him on various decisions and reform the Roman Curia.
On day one of the two-day meeting, in line with the first C9 meeting of the year, the topic of women in the Church was once again discussed. Three women joined the meeting—including one sister and two professors.
On the second and last day of the meeting, Cardinal O'Malley delivered an update on the work of the Commission for the Protection of Minors in Safeguarding. And special emphasis was placed on discussing ongoing conflicts around the world.
The next and final meeting of the year for the Council of Cardinals will be held in December 2024.
