Nicaragua's Radio Maria has had some of its bank accounts blocked. In a live broadcast, the station's directors announced its closure, claiming that it was done in an “unjustified” manner.
Hours later, the local media reported that the station removed the video from their social media and pointed out that these two bank accounts were closed because the documentation was not up to date. The directors gave their listeners other options to continue collaborating with the Catholic media, which will celebrate its 23rd birthday in Nicaragua in September.
At the moment and due to the situation of the country, there is no information as to whether this closure is due to bureaucratic reasons or by order of the Ortega regime, whose actions continue to negatively affect the Catholics living in the country.
Some months ago, the regime ordered the Society of Jesus in Nicaragua to disband and confiscated its assets, including the Catholic university and two private schools.
