This week's General Audience was characterized by the occasional gust of wind…

Pope Francis is still not fully recovered from his illness, but he continues to speak despite having difficulty breathing. During his catechesis, he reflected on the virtue of fortitude.

POPE FRANCIS
A Christian without courage, who does not use his strength to do good, who does not want to bother anyone, is a useless Christian. Let us think about this.

The 87-year-old Pope continues with his busy and varied agenda of public, private and official meetings. In addition to presiding over the public catechesis, he received the 2001 Nobel Prize winner for Economics, the shaman and spokesman for the Yanomami Indians of Brazil and Cardinal José Luis Lacunza.

Yet Pope Francis' thoughts have remained focused on one idea: peace.

POPE FRANCIS
My thoughts are with the suffering Ukraine and Palestine and Israel. May the Lord give us peace. War is everywhere. Let us not forget Myanmar. But we ask the Lord for peace.

Even with the windy weather, the atmosphere at the Audience was cheerful. Among the pilgrims were people in traditional costumes and a group of Italian soldiers.
