Pope Francis appeared rested for his time with 12,000 pilgrims in St. Peter's Square to pray the first Regina Coeli of the year.

During his greeting, he asked them not to forget the joy of the Resurrection. The Pope described this joy as coming from the Sacrament of Baptism.

Pope Francis reiterated a request that he has repeated throughout Holy Week.

POPE FRANCIS
I would like this gift of peace to reach where it is most needed—to people exhausted by war, by hunger, by all forms of oppression.

Pope Francis wished Easter greetings to the pilgrims present and thanked everyone for their messages of solidarity and prayer.

It is a tradition that the Pope will pray the Regina Coeli every Sunday from Easter until Pentecost.
