In a video message outlining his prayer intentions for April, Pope Francis insisted on protecting the dignity of women. The Pope said he will pray that “that the dignity and worth of women be recognized in every culture, and for an end to the discrimination they face in various parts of the world.”
He criticized the lack of educational opportunities for women, genital mutilation and the denial of financial support for women's businesses.
Pope Francis called on governments to “commit themselves to eliminate” this discrimination and “work toward guaranteeing women’s human rights.”
