During the Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday, Pope Francis blessed the oil that will be used to anoint the newly baptized, those receiving Confirmation and newly ordained bishops or priests in the diocese.
Pope Francis will use the Chrism oil to impart the Sacrament of Baptism on several adults during the Easter Vigil at St. Peter's Basilica.
In this celebration, two other oils are also blessed: for catechumens or those who are preparing for Baptism; and the other one used for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
