Despite feeling under the weather in the last few weeks, Pope Francis continues hold various meetings. He started his Wednesday General Audience inviting several children to ride in the popemobile.
The Pope greeted the hundreds of pilgrims present in the Square. But he still had trouble breathing.
POPE FRANCIS
Dear brothers and sisters, good morning.
We will now hear today's catechesis, still along the line of the vices and virtues and I asked Monsignor to read it because I still can't. Thank you.
At the end, the Pope gave a final blessing and spoke briefly about the ongoing struggle for peace in the world but especially in Ukraine and the Holy Land.
POPE FRANCIS
And let us never forget: war always is a defeat. You cannot move forward in war. We must make all efforts to discuss, to negotiate, to end the war. Let us pray for that.
Pope Francis has been fighting a flu-like condition for almost a month. But he continues to hold meetings and is preparing for the start of Holy Week in just a few days.
The Vatican has already confirmed that the Pope will be present at all of the Holy Week celebrations, including the Stations of the Cross. That was the only event he missed last year due to the cold weather.
