Pope Francis welcomed participants of the plenary assembly of the Dicastery for Evangelization at the Apostolic Palace. Among those present was the prelate of Opus Dei, who is a consultant for this organization.
An aide once again read the address for the Pope. Pope Francis' message stressed his concern for the effects of secularization on young people, who might feel as though they do not belong in the Church. He urged the Dicastery to fight against this “indifference” and to work to help new generations recover the “meaning of life.”
Pope Francis highlighted that all Catholics have the duty to evangelize and said that an example of living this out is the ministry of the catechist.

I hope that bishops will know how to nurture and accompany vocations to such a ministry, especially among young people, so that the gap between generations may be reduced and the transmission of the faith does not seem to be a task only entrusted to older people.
The Pope also thanked the Dicastery for its work in preparing for the Jubilee of 2025.
MONS. FILIPPO CIAMPANELLI
It will be a Jubilee in which the power of hope must emerge. In a few weeks, I will publish an Apostolic Letter to officially announce the Jubilee: I hope that these pages will help many people to reflect and above all to live hope concretely.
The Pope explained that welcoming pilgrims should not only be done in “structural works, but in allowing them to experience the faith” through a warm welcome.
