Pope Francis sent a message to the participants of the third Latin American Congress titled “Vulnerability and Abuse.” The Congress aims to raise awareness and promote the prevention of abuse in the Church. The Pope had previously met with a delegation from this organization in September 2023.
In his message, Pope Francis asked the Congress to focus on preventing abuse, resolving cases and understanding the mentality of the abuser in order to help him.
Before closing his message, the Pope addressed weakness. He said that “seeing weakness as an excuse” will only create “childish and resentful people” and does not represent the path of the Church.
