Nearly 300 people packed New York's Sheen Center to attend the screening of “Follow that Bishop!” This Rome Reports documentary reveals how FBI agents followed American bishop Fulton Sheen, who was a television star in the 1950s.
FR. JOHN P. CUSH
Prof. Dogmatic Theology, Brooklyn
Fulton Sheen was so ahead of his time in terms of using the media of this day to get his message, whether that media be radio, whether that media be television.
ANTONIO OLIVIÉ
Co-director, “Follow that Bishop!”
I think he was a pioneer of the YouTubers. He did something that, at that time, it was amazing.
This new documentary allows viewers to discover the life of a saint through FBI documents. The bureau's spies eventually surrendered to the evidence that there was nothing to fear from a Bishop who is in the process of beatification.
FR. MICHAEL MORRIS
Pastor, Regina Coeli Church, New York
In many ways, he was kind of a modern John the Baptist—totally not even worried about what people thought about him. He knew what the truth was and he preached it very fearlessly.
Also speaking at the presentation was the President of the American Pontifical Missions Societies, Anthony Andreassi. Fulton Sheen was the director of the institution for 16 years.
The documentary “Follow that bishop!” was sponsored by the Advancement Foundation of the Diocese of Fort Worth and can be viewed on the Rome Reports Premium platform.
