Once again Pope Francis' health was in the news. On Saturday, the Vatican announced that the Pope's meetings had been suspended due to what they called a “slight flu-like condition.”
Recently, Pope Francis has been breathing heavily, yet the number of his daily meetings has not decreased.
In fact, on Sunday, he resumed his regular schedule and prayed the Angelus with pilgrims after his week-long retreat. He sadly remembered the second anniversary of the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
POPE FRANCIS
While I reiterate my heartfelt affection for the martyred Ukrainian people and pray for all, especially for the countless innocent victims, I implore that we find that bit of humanity that will allow the conditions for a diplomatic solution to be created.
Pope Francis also expressed his concern about the kidnapping epidemic in Nigeria and the abnormal cold wave that is ravaging Mongolia, which has placed the country in a difficult humanitarian crisis.
On Monday, the Vatican stated that the Pope does not have a fever, but slight flu-like symptoms persist. As a result, his meetings were also suspended that day.
