These shelves house historical treasures of Spanish literature: such as a first edition of Don Quixote by Cervantes, of which only 30 copies are believed to exist, or original manuscripts of the theatrical works of Lope de Vega or Quevedo.

Now, all these books can be accessed thanks to the digitization of more than 4,000 works. The Royal Spanish Academy divided the documents by sections and dedicated one exclusively to religion.

Among its texts, you can find a Bible from 1572 or books on the history of the popes, as well as theological dictionaries.

Another of the copies is this one, published in 1724 in the printing house of the Discalced Carmelite Fathers of Barcelona. It is a letter from Saint Teresa of Avila, the founder of the order.

The first letter of this almost 500 page book is dated 1576, six years before her death. In it, St. Teresa addresses the then King of Spain.
