The President and the Board of Trustees of the University of Notre Dame met with Pope Francis in the Apostolic Palace. The Pope challenged them to remember the intellectual tradition of accompanying young people through life.

This requires establishing genuine relationships between educators and students so that they can walk together and understand life's deepest questions, needs and dreams. I leave you with a question, but each of you will answer it later: do you help young people to dream? I leave the question.
Pope Francis also encouraged the university staff to step outside its physical boundaries and serve those in need.
The University of Notre Dame, located in Indiana, was founded in 1842 with the goal of building a strong Catholic university in the United States.
