At the last General Audience in January, Pope Francis spoke about the day dedicated to remembering the civilian victims of war, which has been celebrated in Italy every February 1 since 2017.

POPE FRANCIS
In prayerful remembrance of those who died in the two world wars, let us also accompany the many - too many - civilians, defenseless victims of the wars that unfortunately still bloody our planet, as is the case in the Middle East and Ukraine.

On the subject of wars, Pope Francis stated that anger is a vice at the origin of conflicts. But he also pointed out that it is part of human nature to fight against injustice.

POPE FRANCIS
Sometimes it is good for anger to be released in the right way. If a person never gets angry, if he does not get outraged in the face of injustice, if in front of the oppression of a weak person, he does not feel something shaking in his gut, then it would mean that he is not human, much less a Christian.

The Pope ended his General Audience by greeting the pilgrims present on the feast day of St. John Bosco, minutes before imparting his blessing.
