With this message released on X, formerly Twitter, Pope Francis expressed his closeness to the Catholic community in a neighborhood of Istanbul, Turkey for the attack they suffered while celebrating Mass.
Two masked and armed men enterted the chuch and shot and killed one person. The Pope also mentioned this during the Angelus prayer.

I express my closeness to the community of St. Mary Draperis Church in Istanbul, which suffered an armed attack during Mass, resulting in one death and several wounded.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for this attack in a statement, although Turkish authorities have not yet confirmed it.
