The Custody of the Holy Land, together with the collaboration of the Italian and Egyptian authorities, organized a humanitarian project to bring more than 100 children from Gaza to Italy for medical care.
With the ongoing bombings and violence, treatment for these children in Gaza has been difficult and, for some, impossible. The project will help the children cross the Egyptian border and travel to Rome's Ciampino airport. Then, they will be admitted to Italian hospitals in different parts of the country.
The Bambino Gesù hospital in Rome will welcome the first set of children. Others will receive medical aid in hospitals in Florence, Genoa and Bologna.
This project has been discreetly in the works for the last two weeks. The misison has been led by the Vicar of the Custody of the Holy Land, Fr. Ibrahim Faltas. He described the project coming together with quote “intense mediation activity” with Palestinians, Israelis and Egyptians.
