The lawsuit of the former auditor general who was suing the Vatican for over 10 million dollars has been rejected. And now he must pay restitution. The former auditor and his now-deceased deputy had denounced the Vatican Secretariat of State for wrongful dismissal from their roles in 2017 and had then sued for compensation.
They had been hired just two years prior to review the financial operations of all Vatican departments. But their superiors said they abused their authority by illegally commissioning an external company to investigate the private lives of some Vatican officials. The ex-auditor general denies this.
