American Hollywood star Shia LeBeouf has now joined the number of celebrities who have converted to the Catholic faith.
And for Shia, it was his most recent film of Padre Pio that drew him to Catholicism, as he spent much of his time with Franciscan friars to prepare for his role.
Shia received the sacrament of confirmation on January 2nd, as announced on the Capuchin Franciscans Facebook page. He was received into the Church by Bishop Barron, with whom he did an hour-long testimony video with last year.
In the interview with Bishop Barron, Shia speaks about how his role playing Padre Pio inspired him to dive into scripture and sparked his curiosity about the faith.
Shia LeBeouf told his confirmation sponsor that he is also discerning a vocation to the deaconate.
