Christmas at the Vatican began with the inauguration of the nativity scene and the tree. After the countdown, St. Peter's Square was illuminated with Christmas lights.
On December 24, Pope Francis presided over Mass in St. Peter's Basilica. At the end of the Mass, he spent some time in front of the nativity scene.
On December 25, the Pope gave the Urbi et Orbi blessing from Rome to the world. During it, he prayed for peace in Israel and Palestine. He reiterated his call for the release of the hostages kidnapped on October 7.
On the last day of the year, Pope Francis approached the nativity scene in St. Peter's Square. He was accompanied by pilgrims leaving St. Peter's Basilica.
