After his Wednesday General Audience, Pope Francis greeted the 2021 and 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winners as well as the winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics.
The laureates handed the Pope the “Declaration on Human Fraternity,” written by more than 30 Nobel Prize winners in June during a meeting at the Vatican.
They were accompanied by Cardinal Gambetti, President of the Fratelli Tutti Foundation.
Maria Ressa, Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2021, gave him a copy of her book titled, “How to Fight a Dictator: What Are You Willing to Sacrifice for Your Future?” The work is inspired by her experience with the government in her home country of the Philippines, where she was arrested multiple times for exposing disinformation techniques used to polarize citizens.
Behind her was the 2011 prize winner from Yemen who is an activist for women's rights in her country.
The meeting ended with Pope Francis greeting Italian Giorgio Parisi, winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics.
