Once again, Pope Francis did not leave Casa Santa Marta to pray the Sunday Angelus. The Vatican noted that although his health is improving, he decided not to go out into St. Peter's Square to avoid exposure to dramatic temperature changes.
As he did on the previous Sunday, the Pope greeted the pilgrims in the Square at the beginning and end of the Angelus.
POPE FRANCIS
Dear brothers and sisters, good morning. Today I will not be able to read everything. I am getting better but my voice is still not back. Monsignor Braida will read the catechesis.
Through his assistant, the Pope expressed his sorrow that the ceasefire in Gaza has ended. He asked for peace, that the remaining hostages be released and that humanitarian aid be allowed to be distributed in Gaza.
At the end, Pope Francis greeted the audience members as usual and asked them to pray for him. His greeting was received with energetic applause from the Square.
