2 weeks after Indi Gregory's death, Pope Francis sent a telegram to the Bishop of Nottingham, England on the day of her funeral.
In it, the Pope expressed his condolences and his spiritual solidarity with Indi's parents.
Indi was an eight month old girl from England who was fighting a rare disease. The English courts ruled against her parents' appeals to continue her treatment. They tried to transfer her to the Vatican's Bambino Gesù hospital and she was even granted Italian citizenship.
But the transfer could not be completed and on November 11, the hospital in England pulled life support. Two days later, Indi passed away.
The Italian government has offered to pay for the funeral and a delegation from the country was also in attendance.
