In his December prayer intentions, Pope Francis is dedicating the month for people with disabilities, emphasizing that they are the “most fragile” in society and highlighting that some face rejection.
He encourages civil institutions to ensure that they have access to education, work opportunities and places to express their creativity.
But above all, Pope Francis says that “big hearts are needed” to accompany people with disabilities. He says this requires a change in mentality both in the Church and society.
The Pope challenges everyone to “stop talking about 'them' and start talking about 'us'”, so that people with disabilities can be placed at the center of society's care and attention.
