Pope Francis met with members of the Italian Federation of Catholic Weeklies, the Italian Periodical Press Union and the "Coral" and "Aiart - Media Citizens" Associations. And he challenged those working in media to go beyond simply providing news but to also educate their viewers.
POPE FRANCIS
We see from the very sad news of these days, from the terrible reports of violence against women, how urgent it is to educate in respect and care: to form men capable of healthy relationships. To communicate is to form man. To communicate is to form society. Do not abandon the path of education: it will take you far!
The Pope also reflected on three paths to navigate today's “communication highway”: that of formation, testimony and protection of society's weakest. He encouraged the groups to use their platforms to share a Christian vision.
At the end of their meeting, the Pope entrusted the work of journalists and those in media communication to St. Francis de Sales and Blessed Carlo Acutis.
