Rome is the city of archaeological discoveries. Just a few hundred feet from the Vatican, during restoration work on another building, ruins were unearthed, which had previously only ever been known to exist in literature.

What was discovered was Nero's theater where Nero privately, with his court, used to sing songs that he also sang in other venues, other more important places. It was a theater whose existence was known from literary texts, but the precise location of that theater had never been found.
In the texts of the famous Roman authors of the first century, such as Pliny the Elder or Tacitus, there was talk of this theater.
Archaeological work in the area began in 2020. And, among the ruins, there are large marble columns, virtually intact, that extend along the entire street, even coming out of the walls of a nearby palace.

It is a very important discovery because Nero was a person of great importance in the history of Rome and, above all, it was a period of, let's say, imperial artifacts and buildings that were made from specific materials that have only been found here. There is some evidence of artifacts that could only have been from the imperial family.
During the excavations, archaeologists also found objects dating back to the 15th century: coins, cups, parts of some musical instruments and various tools for making rosaries. Today, this site is the headquarters of the Grand Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

The Grand Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem is an institution commissioned by the Pope with the mission to assist in the Holy Land.
