Pope Francis welcomed the members of the Paul VI Foundation and delivered an improvised speech.
I have no speech…
The Spanish foundation promotes social dialogue in fields such as politics and culture. Some of its meetings seek to open avenues of dialogue between ideologically opposed sectors of society.
The Foundation also manages work in the academic, residential and socio-cultural fields.
BP. GINES GARCÍA BELTRÁN
President, Paul VI Foundation
A foundation that constantly invites and creates bridges of dialogue is so important in Spanish society and even more so at this time. And I believe that our vocation of being a bridge of dialogue from the Social Doctrine of the Church is always an important contribution. And the Pope has encouraged us to continue doing so, to get our hands dirty, to get into areas that can often be difficult, but we must be there.
The Pope listened to the members and praised the fact that they had several female leaders.
SANDRA VÁREZ GONZÁLEZ
Director of Communication, Paul VI Foundation
As each one of us explained our work, he emphasized the role of women, as far as I am concerned. Seeing so many women there, well, he said that he was very enthusiastic, that the work done by women in the Church and in the institutions was very important, that when women were there, everything worked very well. He also liked the enthusiasm we showed when we told him about things.
The Paul VI Foundation was founded in 1968 by the late Cardinal Herrera Oria of Spain.
