Before leaving for Marseille, France, Pope Francis met with the Ukrainian Ambassador to the Holy See, Andrii Yurash. During the meeting, the Ambassador gave the Pope a teddy bear from a residential area in Dnipro that had been bombed earlier this year.
On January 14, a Russian missile hit a nine-story building, destroying more than 200 apartments. Nearly 70 people, including more than 10 children, died. In response to the attack on civilians, the Ukrainian city of Dnipro declared 3 days of mourning.
