300 tons of humanitarian aid for the people of Ukraine were destroyed when a warehouse was burnt to the ground after a Russian attack.
The warehouse belonged to Caritas-Spes Ukraine and had been used for the past year and a half to transport aid to the victims of the war. While the warehouse employees were unharmed, everything inside was burned, which included pallets of food, clothes, generators and more.
Much of the materials destroyed had just arrived earlier that night from Caritas Poland.
Cardinal Krajewski is once again in Ukraine on behalf of Pope Francis and expressed his sorrow for the attack. He is also there to inaugurate the
“House of Shelter” that will be managed by the Albertine Sisters to support people who have fled from bombed places, especially mothers and children.
Despite the tragedy of the warehouse attack, Caritas Internationalis and its local organizations, like Caritas-Spes Ukraine, will continue its efforts of sending lifesaving humanitarian aid to those in need.
