Kyiv, Moscow, Washington and Beijing. These are the four stages so far completed by Pope Francis' envoy for the peace mission in Ukraine. And now, a possible return to Russia could be added.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this at a round table discussion on possible solutions to the conflict in Ukraine.

According to the Russian agency TASS, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi could again travel to Moscow. There are two possible motivations for this trip: the Holy See's efforts in returning Ukrainian children to their homes and the situation of the two Ukrainian priests imprisoned in Russia.

It was precisely these issues that the Ukrainian bishops, who were in Rome for their synod, discussed with Pope Francis and other high-ranking Vatican officials at various meetings.

Lavrov's announcement comes in the context of Cardinal Zuppi's trip to China from September 13 to 15. There, he met with the Chinese government representative for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui.

Commenting on the outcome of this meeting, the Vatican issued a statement explaining that the dialogue between the two was "open, cordial and dedicated to war." More specifically, they dealt with issues such as the grain export crisis.
